After Vancouver, we headed to our 10-day adventure in the Canadian Rockies - we spent 3 nights each in Banff, then Jasper, then Canmore.
Pizza takeaway for our first meal
We landed a little late, picked up the rental car, and spent about 1-2 hours driving to Banff from Calgary Airport. The roads are pitch black :O
26/4 - Banff Gondola, Wild Flour Bakery (for soup and sandwiches), gin distillery and tasting tour, dinner. Very very nice to see snow (unexpected!)
27/4 - The Frozen Lake Louise, Trailhead Cafe, Johnson Lake, dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory
Johnson Lake was a personal favourite of mine - it was really quiet and beautiful, lake was still half frozen. We walked a full round, which was very manageable. There were very few people around but whenever we ran into other hikers, they would be quick to say 'good day' with a friendly smile :)
28/4 - Johnston Canyon, Peyto Lake, drive to Jasper, Korean House!
We had really wonderful Airbnb hosts in Jasper. Great personal touch!
29/4 - First day in Jasper, Jasper Skytram, Lake Edith, Lake Annette
Freezing is what we were
I wore yoga leggings - big joke
Absolute bestie
30/4 - More scenic things - Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake
1/5 - Our drive to Canmore, Bear Paw Bakery, Emerald Lake, Cave & Basin, dinner at Tavern
Canada really does cafes well
2/5 - Exploring Canmore as our glacier tour got cancelled because it was too early in the season it seems! We went swimming.
3/5 - More hiking and walks around Canmore, as well as visiting Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, surprise lookout, and the hoodoos
4/5 - Drove back to Calgary Airport to return rental car and board our flight to Toronto! :)
Our time in the Rockies made infinitely more special because of you :)
