So school has begun and as the first week of school usually goes, it's just pretty useless introductory lectures so far.. Talking about housekeeping and sharing of contacts and plagiarism. So far, all my lecturers seem pretty nice, all from the department of Eng Lang and Lit.
Yesterday had tuition with Joel and Joshua :) Joel is P4 (so fast) and Josh is now P1 means I have to teach him usual school subjects instead of just piano, so each session is now 2.5 hours spent with both of them.. They are so naughty and restless, I leave feeling tired every time haha but they are such nice kids!
This morning in school, realised that Felicia Chin is in my lecture class, for my GEK module. She is really tall and skinny and fair. Though a little hobo-looking (think oversized shirt, ripped jeans and studded high top shoes), she is really pretty.
In the afternoon, I had my lit lecture. I love the lecturer because she looks like a sorceress, a little witchy. Very much like how I imagine any one of the ladies mentioned in The Joy Luck Club dressed, in the 1990s in USA.. Black stockings, primarily dark coloured clothing, velvet blazers/cardigans. HAHA And she speaks super fast which I always think is better than super slow. She's an ex-SCGS girl!
In the spirit of new beginnings, I packed my cupboard! And got rid of A LOT of things. Dumped everything into huge paper bags, all of which my mum will definitely scan before deciding whether it is dump-worthy or save-able. I tried to throw away my SAJC yearbook but my mum insisted I keep it because "one day I will want to look back on this part of my life" -.- I try to believe her.
TADAH! Was much worse before this ok..
My stack of cards, boxes of cards and letters, and in the white box, my pencil cases/wallets
My Christian literature + past journals shelf
My empty files and accessories shelf. Also, includes a dish containing plasters
Forgot to mention that on Saturday, during the first CG of the year, Cindy suggested that K2 sponsor a child with World Vision, which is a Christian organization dealing with issues like poverty and injustice in countries all over the world. For $45 a month, we can sponsor and financially support one child, in areas of education, food, water, healthcare etc. We decided to go with a child from Thailand, as hopefully (and I'm crossing my fingers) one day K2 can visit that kid :)
The boys kept joking around, saying that we should mail the kid laptops and iPhones, making him the coolest kid in the village, but we were all later convinced if we really did that, that kid would probably be beaten up.. A LOT. And for a moment, James thought that we were "buying" the kid, like the kid will be brought to Singapore for us -.-
