An announcement by my professor on IVLE really amused me today:
"To all those working on Chinese Opera,
I understand that none of the NUS Library's books on the topics can be found. It appears that someone has deliberately hidden them.
If it is one of you, please think carefully and realise that depriving others of reference material will not automatically result in better grades for yourself. The books are from the non-lending Singapore-Malaysia Collection so if everyone behaves responsibly, there will be access to the materials for all. Being selfish with the materials is also a mark of great disrespect to the authors who have put in effort to produce a book to share knowledge widely.
I will be carefully comparing all the papers on Chinese Opera to monitor this situation.
Those of you who are struggling to find reference materials -- the books will also be available at the National Library, certainly in the Reference Library in Victoria St, but there are also likely to be lending copies at many of the branch libraries."
