I think I just watched the most heartbreaking episode of Desperate Housewives ever. I mean, many episodes make me tear, but this one was exceptionally sad.
Mike died, and Susan was obviously heartbroken. It never is easy to lose a loved one, especially the love of your life.
I don't know how to tell people what kind of man Mike was... what kind
of father, husband and friend he was. I just never thought I would have
to sum up his life before he was done living it.
And there were flashbacks to moments in their life together - like their wedding night, where Susan asked Mike for a poem and he said,
I love you once. I love you twice. I love you more than beans and rice.
At the funeral, Susan decided that she had to say goodbye to Mike, because she knows he's in a better place, in Heaven - where he's eating burgers with his family, fishing by the waterfall, and watching football with his son, yelling like a maniac. And just as Susan said goodbye to Mike, she put one hand on the coffin and said
I love you once. I love you twice. I love you more than beans and rice.
And that really made me cry. After the funeral, Gaby, Lynette, Bree and Susan gathered at Bree's and were eating double cheeseburgers from Mike's favourite diner, and Susan realized how life would be like now without Mike.
Cause I think when the funeral's over, and the guests leave, and its just you, you realize the hardest hardest hardest most excruciating part is moving on :(
As much as death takes from us, it also gives. It teaches us what is truly important, like giving back after a lifetime of taking, going after something we should have never let go of, or looking on to what made us who we are.
